About Us

Plantlife Garden Design offers stylish and contemporary garden design and build services to clients in the Cheshire/South Manchester area.

Whether a full redesign of a large garden, a planting plan for a courtyard garden or back yard, or one off advice for a problem area, we will take your brief and present you with the perfect solution for your space.  We can assist in providing you with a modern, happy space to live your alfresco life in.

Working with a select group of landscapers and suppliers, we can create a garden that's perfect for your needs. Low maintenance planting can still provide year round interest and a striking display - but is perfect for those without extra time for gardening.

Clever design can transform an area into a multi functional space where both the children can play and the grown ups can relax in a peaceful haven after a hectic day.

Frances Kandel

Frances grew up in the North Yorkshire Moors, where her love of natural beauty and knowledge of plants and gardening was developed from an early age. From planting seeds and watching them grow with her mother, a life long passion was discovered.

Now herself a mother of two living in Altrincham, Frances continues to be inspired by all things green.  Her passion along with expertise gained from training with the prestigious RHS, and 12 years designing beautiful gardens throughout the North West ensures that you will receive a professional garden design service, creating your desired garden through an enjoyable collaborative process.

“A great deal of thought and consideration goes in to every garden I design. I personally like to spend a lot of time in a garden before I put pen to paper, to really get a feel for the space and to consider carefully how the layout will work best for the client. It is so important that the design is both beautiful and practical, and so often unfortunately gardens are either one or the other - my aim is to achieve both, and to do this is it vital to really know the space inside out, where the sun hits, where the gloomy areas are, where works best for storage, cooking, etc and also and often equally as important is the view from the house.”
