Bowdon Courtyard
The Brief
We were called upon by new home owners to transform their tired old courtyard in to a modern, all weather haven for dining, relaxing and entertaining with family and friends.
As with many of our clients, they required a space that is low maintenance, whilst still featuring an interesting selection of hard and soft landscaping to create a tranquil environment in which to unwind or entertain.
The Solution
We split the space (approx 86 m2) in to three zones, including Dining, relaxing and green space. Our clients can enjoy dining at a high bar style fire-table and chairs, sat beneath a state of the art all weather pergola. The pergola provides shade in the summer heat, and can be switched to a fully waterproof roof at a moment's notice should the great British weather suddenly change!
Relaxing takes place on the beautiful Millboard composite decking where outdoor sofas are positioned to make the most of the afternoon/evening sunshine and within close proximity to the kitchen for access to the wine fridge!
A small lawn provides a softness and an additional space to relax and play whilst the areas are all surrounded by planting beds featuring pleached laurel trees for privacy, soft evergreen pittosporum balls and beautifully scented rosemary and lavender as well as spring and summer interest and colour.
